Black businesses and the lives they support need our help.
The COVID-19 pandemic and resulting recession have disproportionately affected Black Americans.
On top of the staggering health consequences millions of minority workers have become unemployed or underemployed almost overnight.
An unimaginable 41% of all African-American owned businesses have been wiped out from February through April of this year alone.* The disruption resulting from these 460,000 small business closures will affect the business owners, workers and local communties for years.

Background & Status
The BLM Website Initiative is a side project created and sponsored by HYPEsites founder C. Marshall Smith (Chris). The goals are simple — provide high quality websites at an affordable low cost to help minority business owners utilize digital marketing to grow their businesses while training the next generation of minority website developers helping them earn a livelihood.
At this time the BLM Website Initiative is conducting pilot programs with interested businesses and workers and is completely private and is not able to operate as a nonprofit. As initial participants succeed and if we are able to attract enough ongoing participants and sponsors to sustain the initiative, an appropriate nonprofit structure would be created.
We are using this time to locate sponsors who are able to donate $500 or more to cover business owner and WordPress trainees participation fees. We are also looking for a celebrity or corporate sponsors to help us provide $0 websites and WordPress training for 20 or more participants at a time.
